Jacob Lorenz
Jacob Lorenz (born March 10, 1883 in St. Gallen , † September 1, 1946 in Freiburg im Üechtland ) was a Swiss sociologist .
Life
Lorenz of the food club was from 1916 to 1917 director of Zurich and received his doctorate in 1917 at the University of Friborg Dr. rer. pole. From 1917 to 1919 he was head of the cantonal food office in Zurich. In 1919 he left the Swiss Social Democratic Party and joined the Catholic Church . In 1922 he completed his habilitation and was a private lecturer at the ETH Zurich until 1933 . From 1925 to 1933 he was an expert at the Federal Department of Economic Affairs and interim director of the Federal Statistical Office .
In 1935 he became associate professor and in 1943 professor for sociology and economics at the University of Freiburg i.Üe. In 1933 he founded the magazine Das Aufgebot and directed the grouping movement until his death; thereby "he represented a corporatism characterized by foreign infiltration rhetoric and anti-Semitism, but rejected totalitarian movements". According to Widmer, on the Catholic side he was considered to be one of those people who were trusted to counter the emergence of the fronts and National Socialist propaganda in Switzerland with Catholic-conservative content and concerns.
