Willy Bouffier

Willy Bouffier (born December 15, 1903 in Frankfurt am Main ; † December 26, 1969 ) was professor and rector of the University of World Trade in Vienna .

Life

Willy Bouffier was born in Frankfurt am Main as the son of a postmaster. In 1923 he finished the humanistic grammar school in Marburg and began studying chemistry at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main. But this, he moved quickly in favor of an economics degree and was in the summer of 1926 business graduate . Just one year later he received his doctorate in political science. On January 1, 1928, he became Karl Oberparleiter's assistant at the Institute for World Trade Studies at the University of World Trade in Vienna. In 1933 he completed his habilitation there with " The basis of the German and Austrian building society " and became an associate professor. In 1937 he was sworn in as an expert. For political reasons he had to leave the university in 1938, his work as an expert was not affected, for the time being. During the Second World War , he was called up for military service in 1942. In 1943 he left the Wehrmacht due to illness and instead had to work for the price monitoring office in Vienna.

At the end of the war Bouffier was able to return to the university in 1945 and a year later he became a full professor and head of the Institute for Industrial Management . Also in 1946 he was appointed auditor and was again active as an appraiser for courts, as well as a consultant for various branches of the economy. This activity later led to his appointment as a cartel expert . In 1949 he became rector of the University for World Trade and remained so until 1951. In 1951 he became editor of the magazine Der Österreichische Betriebswirt .

From 1958 to 1960 he was the first chairman of the Association of University Lecturers for Business Administration. V. , the first time that this became a person outside of the German Reich or the Federal Republic of Germany . In 1964 he received the Austrian Cross of Honor for Science and Art, First Class . From 1968 to 1969 he was rector of the University of World Trade for one year.
