Willy Buschak

Willy Buschak (born June 23, 1951 ) is a German historian and trade unionist .

life and work

Buschak studied history and philosophy in Bochum and received his doctorate in 1982 with a thesis on the London office . He also wrote several studies on the history of the German trade unions from the imperial era to the present day.

He joined the food-pleasure-restaurants union and served on its main board from 1987 to 1991. From there he moved to the European Trade Union Confederation . Initially as Deputy Director and after the death of his predecessor Raymond-Pierre Bodin , he was Director of the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions in Dublin from 2003 until he was replaced in this position by Jorma Karppinnen in 2005 . Buschak continued to serve as deputy director until he left the foundation in March 2008 after the end of his six-year term. He was succeeded by Erika Mezger . Buschak has been responsible for questions of principle in the DGB district of Saxony in Dresden since 2009 .
