The rose variety 'Wimi' (synonym 'Willy Millowitsch Rose', 'TANrowisa') is a silver-pink tea hybrid with carmine-pink edges, which was developed by Mathias Tantau jun. Bred in 1982 and launched by Rosen Tantau .

The rose forms an upright, compact shrub. The rose plant is about 80 cm to a maximum of 120 cm high and 60 cm wide. The mostly individually arranged, silvery pink hybrid tea rose flowers are colored carmine to dark pink at the edge and are formed from 17 to 25 curved, short petals . In the later flowering stage, the petals bend slightly outwards and form a tall, cup-shaped flower. The rose variety 'Wimi' has large, glossy dark green leaves and is characterized by a strong rose scent.

The remontant rose variety 'Wimi' is hardy ( USDA climate zone 7b and warmer). It blooms continuously from June to October and is resistant to the well-known rose diseases .

The rose variety thrives in well-drained, humus -rich, nutrient-rich soil in sunny to partially shaded locations. The rose variety Wimi is prone to waterlogging in the soil. It is suitable for area planting, for mixed planting with lavender in romantic shrub gardens, for group planting in rose beds and planting flower pots. The 'Wimi' rose variety can also be used as a cut rose in floristry .

The rose variety is shown in numerous rosariums and gardens, including in the Carla Fineschi Foundation Rose Garden (Tuscany), Nippstress' Nebraska Roses, in the Rosarium of the city of Uetersen , in the Europa-Rosarium Sangerhausen , in the German Rosarium Dortmund and in the garden of the Cologne flora .

Naming

The rose name 'Wimi' is made up of the first two letters of the first and last name of the Cologne folk actor Willy Millowitsch . Millowitsch is said to have said at the rose baptism in 1982:

"So far you could see and hear me, now you can even smell me."
