history

Windheim in Spessart an der Hafenlohr was probably built around the year 1000 and, like the towns of Marienbrunn and Einsiedel, was a Neustadt monastery courtyard. Windheim was first mentioned in a document in 1342 when a "Heinrich von Windawe" was named as a priest in Rothenfels. Windheim belonged to the town of Rothenfels until it became an independent municipality in 1822. Due to the regional reform, the place was incorporated into Hafenlohr on January 1, 1974.

Infrastructure

The community center, which was inaugurated in 2015, is available to residents, associations and guests for larger events. This has a well-equipped kitchen with a refrigerator, dishwasher and dishes and can accommodate up to 80 people. Barrier-free access offers a beautiful ambience with a view of the Hafenlohrtal for festivities such as weddings, birthdays and club celebrations on a smaller scale. The contact person for rental inquiries is the municipality of Hafenlohr. The Windheim youth campground is maintained by the Main-Spessart district. There is also an inn with overnight accommodation in the village.
