The Amakhala Emoyeni wind farm is a wind farm in South Africa that is located near Bedford . It is part of a larger wind farm project that is still being planned as of 2016. In the long term, this should extend over an area of more than 130 km² of pasture land, of which approx.
The first expansion phase, construction of which began in 2014, was officially put into operation in July 2016. This consists of 56 wind turbines of the type Nordex N117 / 2400 which have a rated output of 2.4 MW and a rotor diameter of 117 meters. The systems were built on a tubular steel tower with a hub height of 91 meters, so that the total height is approx. 150 meters. The annual standard energy capacity of the wind farm is around 450 GWh , which means that around 445,000 tons of carbon dioxide can be saved each year .
The electrical energy is fed into the power grid by means of a substation built for the wind farm on the 132 kV level.
