The Düren-Distelrath wind farm is located in the eastern urban area of Düren in North Rhine-Westphalia and consists of five wind turbines .

location

The wind farm is located south of the B 264 in the districts of Am Scheidweg and Im Unterfeld , on the far eastern edge of the urban area of Düren in the Distelrath district , bordering the Merzenich and Girbelsrath districts and Nörvenich with the Binsfeld districts . All of the park's facilities are lined up in a row along the eastern Düren city limits.

history

Simultaneously with the construction of wind farms Düren-Arnoldsweiler were the company AG Umweltkontor three wind turbines on the system type Enron Wind 1.5s of the US company Enron built in Distelrath. The manufacturer had to file for bankruptcy at the end of 2001, as a result of which the wind division was taken over by General Electric in June 2002 . Umweltkontor AG also went bankrupt in 2004. Each turbine has a nominal output of 1.5 MW with a rotor diameter of 71 m and a hub height of 65 m. The Düren-Arnoldsweiler wind farm, which was built by the same company, also has three identical turbines.

Originally, five Enron systems were planned for the Distelrath location , but two systems were ultimately not approved due to the partial location in the approach path of the Nörvenich air base.

The first expansion of the wind park followed in 2008. A REpower MM82 system from the German manufacturer REpower Systems was built on the southern edge of the wind park area, directly on the boundary with Nörvenich . This turbine has a hub height of 80 m and a nominal output of 2.05 MW with a rotor diameter of 82 m. It was planned and built by BMR energy solutions GmbH from Geilenkirchen . The plant went into regular operation in January 2009.

One of the Enron plants was dismantled in 2013.

The next expansion followed in 2014 with an identical system to the one built in 2008. Since the manufacturer REpower Systems changed its name to Senvion at the beginning of 2014, the system name is now Senvion MM82 . This system was also planned by BMR energy solutions and went into operation in May 2014.

The last expansion to date was also carried out by BMR energy solutions in 2016, when a Senvion MM92 system was installed. It is largely identical to the turbines from 2008 and 2014, but has a larger rotor diameter of 92 m. This facility is located on the site of the dismantled Enron facility.
