Pampa ( Parque Eólico Pampa ) is a wind farm in Uruguay that went into operation in October 2016. The forecast standard energy capacity is 640 million kWh , the capacity factor at 51%, which is unusual for onshore wind farms. Overall, the wind farm is to provide electrical energy that corresponds to the electricity consumption of 180,000 households.

The wind farm is located in the Tacuarembó department in the central north of Uruguay at the height of kilometer 320 on route 5 .
Construction and history
The client is the state-owned company UTE , the construction is being carried out turnkey by the German wind turbine manufacturer Nordex . The contract for the construction was awarded in March 2015. Commissioning took place in October 2016.
The project is funded 70 percent by KfW IPEX-Bank and Bayerische Landesbank .
technology
The wind farm consists of 59 wind turbines of the Nordex N117 / 2400 type , which are erected on steel towers with a hub height of 91 meters. Each of the turbines has a rotor diameter of 117 meters and a nominal output of 2.4 MW, which means that the turbines are particularly suitable for low-wind locations with a maximum of 7.5 m / s average wind speed with high turbulence intensity at the same time . However, since the wind conditions at the site are comparatively constant and only low degrees of turbulence of 14% instead of the permitted 18% prevail, the systems can be used despite the comparatively high average wind speed of approx. 7.9 m / s. This enables very high capacity factors of around 51% or 4500 full load hours . These are values that are otherwise almost exclusively achieved by offshore wind farms .
