Winsau
Winsau is a parcel in the extreme north-eastern municipality of the Austrian city of Dornbirn , in the state of Vorarlberg . Winsau is part of the oldest Dornbirn settlement area. In an interest letter dated February 4, 1478, " Petter winsower, located zu winsow in tairenburer pastor " is mentioned.

Winsau is said to be derived from the first name Winfried ( Au des Winfried).

Winsau is part of the Haselstauden district in the northeast of the Dornbirn settlement area at 700 m above sea level. A. am Achrain and is about 6 km as the crow flies from the city center of Dornbirn. In “ Schematismus für Tirol und Vorarlberg ” (1839) Winsau is mentioned as an independent hamlet and part of Dornbirn. Also in the " Provinzial-Handbuch von Tirol und Vorarlberg for the year 1847 ".

Population and development
In 1756 some of the eight houses in Winsau burned down. It is not known whether there were any deaths. In 1857 83 of the then almost 1,000 Haselstauders lived in Winsau (8.3%) in twelve houses, making it the parcel with the most inhabitants. Current population figures are no longer published. Today there are more than 35 residential buildings.
Education and religion
In order to save the children living in Winsau a long way to school, the first elementary school was built in 1795. It was last renovated in 1993 and has a small sports field that has been used by the Winsau sports club ever since .
Next to the school building is the Roman Catholic chapel Maria Schnee .

Winsau has a connection to the Dornbirn and Bregenzerwald transport network through the L49 - Achrainstraße , also known as “Wälderstraße” . The Winsau Tobel, Winsau Schule and Winsau Rose stops are served by public transport (omnibus).
Waters
Winsau borders the Stauderbach in the northeast, which also forms the border to Alberschwende and thus to the Bregenz district. In the southwest of Adelsgehr flows the Strickerbach, into which the Winsauergraben, which rises in Winsau, also flows. Stauderbach and Strickerbach both flow into the Schwarzach . The Schwarzach in turn forms the border between Winsau / Dornbirn and Bildstein .
