Wintilo Lozano Islas (born December 23, 1919 in Yuma , Arizona , United States ; † January 15, 2009 in Mexico ), also known by the shortened first name Tilo , was an American-Mexican soccer player who played mainly in midfield .

Life

When Wintilo Lozano was four years old, his parents from Mexico moved back home so that he grew up in Guadalajara , Jalisco . As a young man he played for the Club Deportivo Guadalajara for several years , both during the amateur era , which lasted until 1943, as well as in the first years of professional football . In the early 1940s he also belonged to the Selección Jalisco , which from 1940 to 1943 participated in the Liga Mayor , which was still officially operated on amateur status .

Trivia

Wintilo Lozano, which according to some sources is also called Wintil i o Lozano, was the first non-Mexican-born player in the professional team of Club Deportivo Guadalajara.
