history

In 1988 the company was founded by Udo Wagner, Theo Düppre and Haigis Waagenbau as Wipotec Wiege- und Positioniersysteme GmbH in Kaiserslautern and developed the monoblock load cell. This newly developed core component makes high-precision weighing technology suitable for industrial use.

In 1996 the first sales subsidiary was established in Schwäbisch Hall with a partner and in 1999 became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Wipotec, which has been operating under the name OCS Checkweighers GmbH since 2002 .

In 1996 the American post office ordered the first catch scales developed and manufactured by Wipotec . A separate machining department is created. Two years later a sales office was founded in the USA and by the year 2000 the number of employees increased to 100.

In 1999 the product range is expanded to include double-track scales and integrated metal detectors . By 2011, Wipotec established further branches in Europe and the USA. The annual turnover is now more than 50 million euros.

In 2016, the vertical range of manufacture reached over 85%. In addition, the scales are sold in the food, health and chemical industries as well as in the logistics sector. The portfolio is expanded to include products for serialization solutions and traceability to prevent counterfeit drugs . In 2018 the company celebrates its 30th anniversary.
