We have faces
We have faces is the name of a memorial from 2005 that is directed against rape . It is located on the Kreuzberg in Viktoriapark in Berlin-Kreuzberg .
Concern and occasion
The memorial is intended to remember all women who have been victims of rape. At the site of the memorial, a woman was attacked and raped by two men in March 2002. The statue is part of a “We have faces” campaign.

The memorial is on the east side of the waterfall around 50 meters above the Großbeerenstraße park entrance . It consists of a slender metal stele about two meters high, the top of which is designed as a stylized woman's head with hair indicated by spikes. The wide open mouth - like the eyes, the eyebrows and the chin depicted as a recess in the metal - screams accusingly at the viewer. An inscription is embedded in the middle part . About halfway up the stele, a triangular platform with another text is attached transversely or slightly inclined. The memorial was erected on the night of May 20-21, 2005. Nothing is known about the artist or the author of the inscriptions.

The inscription on the stele consists entirely of capital letters and reads:
“We have faces
We have eyes
We have hands and fists
We have dreams
We are sad
We have laughter
We are angry
We live
In spite of all
We fight
For respect for women

Justice"

The approximately 25-line text on the triangular transverse plate is applied with the achromatic color white on a light brown / beige background:
“On the night of March 18-19, 2002, a woman was raped by two men. One of many. Any rape is humiliation and torture. Violence of men and contempt for women is war against women. Rape of women and girls takes place in every location, most of them in residential areas. The patriarchy creates hierarchical and exploitative relationships between men and women. Sexism is violence against women in everyday life and in the state. Wherever we feel, see, hear of violence - we will fight back, not be silent! With the decision of each individual and the strength and diversity of the women's movement and with feminist resistance, we will abolish patriarchy and end sexism. Solidarity • resistance • public!
