history

In 2001 the Duisburg waste management company and parts of the Office for Public Building and Greenery and the Sports Office were founded into the Duisburg business operations. The in- house operation was converted into an institution under public law in 2007 .

The tasks of Wirtschaftsbetriebe Duisburg include waste disposal and city cleaning as well as city drainage , water maintenance and development. In addition, the companies devote themselves to the planning and maintenance of the playgrounds , the operation of the cemeteries and the crematorium , and the maintenance of the green areas , parks and botanical gardens . The maintenance of the entire urban infrastructure such as streets, paths, squares, bridges and traffic signal systems as well as the urban flood protection facilities are also part of the work of the municipal company.
