Alois "Wisi" Fleischmann (born June 7, 1926 in Altendorf SZ ) is a Swiss mountaineer and pioneer of extreme climbing in Switzerland.

Life

Wisi Fleischmann started climbing at the age of 24, but quickly reached a high level. The free climber can reach difficult routes in the Wilder Kaiser and in the Dolomites , including the north faces of the Great and Western Peaks , the Civetta northwest face , the Torre di Valgrande northwest face and the fifth ascent of the southwest face of the Marmolada di Rocca, for the first time in one day. In the Swiss Alps, he made several first ascents, which were among the most difficult of their time and some of them have become extreme classics.

In 1955 a bacillus infection forced him to rest for several years. During this time he trained to become a commercial clerk and computer specialist. Then he climbed difficult routes again to an advanced age.

Wisi Fleischmann was a member of the Alpstein climbing club .
