Witold Orłowski

Witold Maciej Orłowski (* 1962 in Łódź ) is a Polish economist and university professor. He is the head of the Business School of the Warsaw University of Technology ( Szkoła Biznesu Politechniki Warszawskiej ).

Life

Orłowski studied and obtained his doctorate at the University of Łódź . Until 1992 he worked as an assistant professor in Łódź . From 1991 to 1993 he was a consultant in the Office for European Integration and from 1993 to 1997 at the World Bank in the Macroeconomics Department. He is and was also active for other institutions: for example at the NOBE Independent Center for Economic Studies (co-founder and director) at the EBRD , the FAO and the European Commission . From 2002 to 2005 Orłowski was economic advisor to Polish President Aleksander Kwaśniewski .

Orłowski was appointed professor in 2007. He is the head of the Business School (MBA) at the Technical University of Warsaw. He also acts as a member of the Economic Advisory Board ( Rada Gospodarcza ) of Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk . Orłowski is also the chief economist of the Polish subsidiary of PricewaterhouseCoopers .

Orłowski's research focuses on economic transformation and the economic integration of Eastern European countries in Europe. He is the author of several books and many scientific treatises. His work “Droga do Europy” ( The Road to Europe ) received an award.

Awards and memberships

Orłowski is an officer of the Polonia Restituta Order (2005). He is a member of the jury for Galeria Chwały Polskiej Ekonomii .
