Galeria Chwały Polskiej Ekonomii
Admission to the Galeria Chwały Polskiej Ekonomii is an important award for Polish economists .
history
In 2005, Polish Manager Magazin , a licensed edition of the German magazine Manager Magazin of the same name , donated a counterpart to the German Hall of Fame , the Galeria Chwały Polskiej Ekonomii (translated: Hall of Honor of the Polish Economy ). With the inclusion in this hall of honor, an important Polish economist was recognized once a year for his life's work and corresponding achievements in the Polish economy. In 2012, the Association of Polish Financial Directors Finexa (Stowarzyszenie Dyrektorów Finansowych Finexa) accepted this award and incorporated the award into its annual congress. When the award was accepted, a new jury was put together.
Carrier and jury
The Hall of Honor has been supported by the Polish Association of Finance Directors since the end of 2012.
The jury commissioned by the sponsor is made up of eight public figures:
- Adam Budnikowski , former rector of the Warsaw School of Commerce
- Paweł Domosławski, President of the Finexa Association of Finance Directors
- Mieczysław Groszek , board member of the Association of Polish Banks
- Alicja Kornasiewicz , former Deputy Minister in the Polish Ministry of State Property
- Adam Maciejewski , chairman of the board of the Warsaw Stock Exchange
- Krzysztof Obłój , economist and professor ( University of Warsaw , Kożmiński University )
- Henryk Orfinger , Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the employers' association PKPP Lewiatan
- Witold Orłowski , Rector of the Business School of the Warsaw University of Technology
Sculptures and artists
The heads of the honored are made as sculptures in bronze and shown in a public permanent exhibition. The bronze heads are made on a scale of 1: 1.2 on the basis of a plasticine mold.
The author of the sculptures is Marek Jerzy Nowakowski, a sculptor living near Poznan . Nowakowski was born in Bydgoszcz in 1963 and studied at what is now the Akademia Sztuk Pięknych ( Academy of Fine Arts ) in Poznan. He graduated from the sculptor Józef Kopczyński (1930–2006) in 1993 .
Nowakowski has been represented at solo and group exhibitions in Poland and Germany since 1993. He is the author of commissioned works for monuments, award sculptures, memorial plaques, such as for the Międzynarodowe Targi Książki ( International Book Fair in Warsaw) or the cities of Obornicki , Wolsztyn , Grodzisk Wielkopolski and Nowy Tomyśl (Monument to Frédéric Chopin ).
The exhibition
The sculptures of the award winners, mounted on metal columns, are exhibited in the hall of the Warsaw Stock Exchange.

- Marek Belka (* 1952), President of the National Bank of Poland and former Prime Minister of Poland (winner 2013)
- Henryka Bochniarz (* 1947), presidential candidate 2005 and President of the Polish Employers' Association (award winner 2008)
- Władysław Grabski (1874–1938), Polish politician (Prime Minister) and economist (award winner 2005, posthumously)
- Eugeniusz Kwiatkowski (1888–1974), Polish politician and economist (award winner 2005, posthumously)
- Wiesław Rozłucki (* 1947), President of the Warsaw Stock Exchange from 1991 to autumn 2006 (award winner 2007)
