Henryka Teodora Bochniarz ([ xɛnˈrɨka tɛɔˈdɔra ˈbɔxɲaʃ ], born October 29, 1947 in Świebodzin , Poland ) is a Polish economist. She was the Minister for Industry in Poland and has been President of the Employers' Association PKPP Lewiatan since January 1999 . She is also the managing director of Boeing Central and Eastern Europe and is represented on various supervisory boards.

education

Bochniarz graduated from the Warsaw University of Planning and Statistics (SGPiS) at the Faculty of Foreign Trade with a doctorate in economics and a consulting certificate for management. From 1985 to 1987 she was a Fulbright Foundation Fellow and has read at the University of Minnesota .

Professional career

From 1971 to 1990 she was a lecturer and long-term research assistant at the Institute for Business Cycle and Prices. From 1978 to 1990 she was a member of the Polish United Workers' Party (PZPR) . In the government of Jan Krzysztof Bielecki (January 12 to December 5, 1991) Bochniarz was Minister for Industry and Trade. She founded and ran one of the first consulting companies in Poland: Nicom Consulting. She also founded the Society of Economic Advisers ( Stowarzyszenie Doradców Gospodarczych ) in Poland. From June 1996 to October 1999 she was the chairman of the Polish Business Council . Since January 1999 she has been the chairwoman of the Lewiatan employers' association, a non-governmental organization with social partner status. Bochniarz is deputy head of the tripartite committee for social affairs and economics and the committee for good practices (Komitet Dobrych Praktyk).

Henryka Bochniarz led important privatization projects in Poland. She belongs to several supervisory boards. These include the insurance company Commercial Union , the IT company ComputerLand , the private broadcaster TVN , the media group ITI and the investment fund company WGI - Towarzystw Funduszy Inwestycyjnych .

In June 2006, Boeing International appointed Henryka Bochniarz Vice-Head of the Regional Center for Central Eastern Europe, which will be located in Warsaw and will be responsible for the region from Estonia to Slovenia.

International activity

Bochniarz is a member of the EU's largest employers' association, UNICE , the Executive Bureau UNICE (a group of ten presidents and general directors of UNICE), which controls UNICE and makes key decisions. She is a member of the Enterprise Policy Group set up by the European Commission in 2000 , which advises the EU on economic policy issues. She also works on the Economic Advisory Committee of the OECD , an advisory organization to the OECD , where she represents entrepreneurs from OECD countries. Bochniarz is also a member of the World Bank convened Advisory Group Private Sector Advisory Group and Chairman of the Polish-Japanese Economic Committee.

Social activity

Henryka Bochniarz is vice-chair of the “Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz” foundation, which supports the Zakopane Theater in Witkacy and co-finances the Nike literature prize . She works in the council of the Foundation for Young Entrepreneurship, which prepares children and young people for life in the market economy and in civil society.

Awards

Bochniarz received the Kisiel Prize in 1998, the prize of the women's magazine Pani "Investment of Hearts" (2000) and the prize "Styl Życia" (2002) for conveying her way. In 2003 she was honored with the Andrzej Bączkowski Prize for her contribution to the development of social dialogue in Poland and her work across political rifts. She also received the title “Successful Woman from Warmia and Mazury” from the “International Women's Forum” in Olsztyn ( Allenstein , 2005). In 2004 she received the Commander's Cross Polonia Restituta . In 2008 it was included in the "Gallery of Honor of the Polish National Economy" ( Galeria Chwały Polskiej Ekonomii ).

Publications

Bochniarz has written many articles on economics and analysis of social and economic issues. In 2003 she and Jacek Santorski wrote the book "Be yourself and win - 10 tips for the active woman" ( Bądź sobą i wygraj - 10 podpowiedzi dla aktywnej kobiety ) ISBN 83-89291-34-7 . She is a co-signer of the letter from the 100 women to the European Parliament , which deals with a debate on the situation of women in Poland.

2005 presidential elections

On June 4, 2005, Henryka Bochniarz stood up as a candidate for the presidential elections in Poland . In doing so, she supported the Democratic Party ( Partia Demokratyczna - demokraci.pl ), of which she is not a member. It was elected by 188,598 people and thus achieved 1.26 percent of all votes cast (7th place). For the second ballot, she called on her voters to vote for Donald Tusk .
