Krzysztof Obłój (born October 30, 1954 ) is a Polish economist and university professor. He is the head of the Institute for Strategic Management (pol .: Zakład Zarządzania Strategicznego ) at the Management Faculty of Warsaw University . In addition, he holds the Chair of Strategic Management at the Leon Koźmiński Private Academy in Warsaw .

Life

Krzysztof Obłój is the son of the chemist Józef Obłój. In 1977 he graduated from what was then Szkoła Planowania i Statystyki . He then worked as an assistant at the University of Warsaw, and after his doctorate (subject: organizational and management theory) as a lecturer from 1980. In 1987 he completed his habilitation at the University of Warsaw (subject: strategic management). From 1993 to 1994 he was President of the European International Business Academy (EIBA), of which he has been a Fellow since 2002. From 1995 he has been teaching as a professor at the Leon Kozmiński University and since 1996 as a full professor at the University of Warsaw. In 1996 and 1997 he was a Fulbright scholar.

As a visiting professor , he regularly teaches at Sun Yat-sen University Guangdong , ESCP Europe , BI Norwegian Business School , Henley Management College , University of Illinois at Urbana , Yale University , Central Connecticut State University and from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh .

Obłój was and is widely published. In the United States , the books “Management Systems” (1993) and “Winning: Continuous Improvement Theory in High Performance Organizations” (1995) were published. In Europe he is the co-author of various works. His articles have been in specialized media such as Entrepreneurship. Theory and Practice , Journal of Management Studies , European Management Journal , Industrial & Environmental Crisis Quarterly , International Small Business Journal and Cybernetics and Systems. Published on International Journal . Some of his books published in Poland have become bestsellers and have already appeared in several editions: “Strategia sukcesu firmy,” (1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2004), “Strategia organizacji” (1999, 2000, 2002, 2004 and 2007 ) or “Pasja i dyscyplina strategii” (2010 and 2011). The work “Myśli o nowoczesnym biznesie” was created in 2003 in collaboration with Janusz Palikot , and “Zarys teorii równowagi organizacyjnej” (1986) in cooperation with Andrzej Koźmiński .

Obłój worked as a strategy and organizational consultant for the Polish branches of corporations such as Asea Brown Boveri , LG Group and Reckitt Benckiser . He is chairman of the supervisory boards of Alior Bank SA and Prochem SA. He previously held positions on the supervisory board (often as chairman) at Agora SA , Ambra SA , Eurobank SA , Impel SA , NFI Foksal SA , PGF SA , PKN Orlen SA , Polmos Lublin SA and PZU SA off.
