Mieczysław Groszek

Mieczysław Karol Groszek (* 1951 ) is a Polish bank manager and a member of the board of the Association of Polish Banks ( Związek Banków Polskich ).

Life

Groszek studied from 1973 at the Szkoła Główna Planowania i Statystyki (today: SGH) in Warsaw . He obtained his doctorate and worked as an assistant professor at the university's economics faculty until 1991.

Groszek has been involved in the Polish banking industry since the early 1990s. He held board positions at Bank Własności Pracowniczej SA (today the Polish subsidiary of Nordea Bank ), Polski Bank Rozwoju SA and BRE Bank (until the end of 1999); from December 2000 he acted as CEO of the German-Polish MHB Mitteleuropean Handelsbank AG in Frankfurt am Main . From 2002 to 2010 he was managing director of BRE Leasing Sp. Z oo. Since December 2010 he has been a member of the board of the Polish Bankers Association, which he also represents in the European Banking Federation in Brussels . In 2008 he was elected to the board of the European umbrella organization of national associations of leasing providers, Leaseurope . He is chairman of the foundation for efficient energy supply .

In addition, the manager is or was represented on the supervisory boards of many companies and institutions ( Bank Ochrony Środowiska SA , TiUR Warta , TFI Skarbiec , PTE Skarbiec , PTP KB , Skanska Poland or Krajowa Izba Rozliczeniowa SA ).

Groszek is a member of the jury of Galeria Chwały Polskiej Ekonomii . He is the author of numerous scientific publications and a regular speaker at specialist congresses. He frequently appears in TV business programs and is a sought-after interview partner for the Polish business press. Groszek is married and has two grown children.
