The slate is a 1206  m above sea level. A. high mountain in the Upper Austrian Pre-Alps north of Reichraming .

topography

The summit of the Schieferstein is the highest point of a west-east oriented mountain ridge, which runs from Losenstein over the Pfennigstein 759  m , the Steinernen Jäger 1185  m , the main summit and the Schratlboden 945  m in the direction of Großraming . In the area of the Steinerne Jäger and the main summit, the mountain has some vertical wall slopes to the north and south, which are formed from massive red limestone from the lower Jura . Ascents

From the parking lot just below the Habichler homestead , the mountain can be climbed in about an hour and 15 minutes, first over the south side and then over the sometimes sharp and rocky west ridge. It is also possible to climb up marked trails from Losenstein. You can also climb the Schieferstein from "Gscheid".

Transmitter

To the east of the Schieferstein is the 80 meter high Losenstein-Habichl transmitter tower at 867  m , via which the ORF programs Ö3 (101.5 MHz), Ö1 (90.6 MHz) and Radio Upper Austria (95.9 MHz) with a low rate Transmitting power of 10 watts each in horizontal and directional polarization.
