Jacek Socha
Jacek Franciszek Socha (born September 9, 1954 in Paczków ) is a Polish economist and politician. In 2004 and 2005 he headed the Polish Ministry of State Assets .
Life
Socha studied at the University of Warsaw School of Economics and (in the early 1990s) at the Institute for Capital Markets at the United States Securities and Exchange Commission . From 1980 to 1982 he worked at the Szkoła Główna Handlowa in Warsaw . From 1990 he worked at the Polish Academy of Sciences . From 1991 he was director, then deputy chairman and finally chairman of the Polish Securities and Exchange Commission ( Komisja Papierów Wartościowych i Giełd ), which was dissolved in 2006 . From May 2, 2004 to October 19, 2005, he served as Minister of the Treasury in Marek Belka's cabinet . Since 2005 he has been on the management board of the Polish branch of PricewaterhouseCoopers .
Socha is the author of books such as publications on capital markets, including Zrozumieć giełdę (1992, Understanding the Stock Exchange), Rynek-giełda-inwestycje (1998, Market-Stock Exchange Investment) and Rynek papierów wartościowych w Polsce (2003, Stock Market in Poland). He is an honorary member of the Polish Association of Stock Brokers and Consultants ( Związek Maklerów i Doradców ) and the Chamber of Stockbroking Companies ( Izba Domów Maklerskich ).
Socha is one of the architects of the Polish capital market. Under him, the largest privatization and IPO of a company to date in Poland, Bank PKO BP , was carried out. In 2011 Socha was awarded the Commander's Cross with Star of the Order of Polonia Restituta for his services . He is married and has two children.
