Ryszard Roman Kalisz (born February 26, 1957 in Warsaw ) is a Polish politician , lawyer , member of the Sejm of the IV, V, VI and VII . Parliamentary term, former Minister of the Interior and Administration.

In 1978 he joined the Polska Zjednoczona Partia Robotnicza (Polish United Workers' Party, PZPR). Before that he was already active in the Socjalistyczny Związek Studentów Polskich (Socialist Student Union of Poland, SZSP) and deputy chairman of the main committee for revision. In 1980 he graduated from the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Warsaw . He graduated from 1981 to 1983, the judge -Referendariat and then clerkship for Lawyers (1984-1987). He has been practicing as a lawyer since 1987.

From 1993 to 1996 he was deputy chairman of the state tribunal , then representative of the president in the Constitutional Commission of the National Assembly . From 1997 to 2000 he was State Secretary in the Presidential Office , from 1998 to 2000 he was Executive Director of the Presidential Office. In 2000 he led the election campaign for the re-election of Aleksander Kwaśniewski as president. From 2000 to 2005 he was also a member of the National Security Council.

In 1999 he was one of the founding members of Sojusz Lewicy Demokratycznej (Federation of the Democratic Left - SLD) and was elected to its state executive committee. In 2001 he won a seat in the Sejm for the constituency of Warsaw for the first time. He exercised the function of chairman of the legislative commission and also headed the Polish- German parliamentary group. He was also a member of the Committee of Inquiry into the Rywin Affair for a short time (he was replaced by Anita Błochowiak ).

In May 2004 he was appointed Minister of the Interior and Administration in the Marek Belka government.

He was a member of the election committee of Włodzimierz Cimoszewicz in the presidential elections in 2005. In the parliamentary elections in 2005 he was re-elected for the SLD in the Sejm (he achieved the largest number of votes of all SLD MPs).

In the parliamentary elections in 2007 he was for the constituency of Warsaw from the coalition list of Lewica i Demokraci (Left and Democrats - LiD) with 37,623 votes for the third time a member of parliament. On January 11, 2008, he was elected chairman of the committee of inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the death of Barbara Blida . He is also the chairman of the Sejm Commission for Justice and Human Rights.

On April 22, 2008 he became a member of the Lewica parliamentary group . Since the end of 2012 he has been involved in the Europa Plus initiative . For this reason, on April 8, 2013, he was excluded from the SLD for participating in the compilation of a competing electoral list. He was considering taking part in the 2015 presidential election, but in February described the election campaign as being dishonest and decided not to participate.

He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the German-Polish Lawyers Association .

He is married for the second time and has two sons.
