The Wittelsbacher Brunnen is a fountain at the end of Leonrodplatz in Eichstätt , the former Jesuitenplatz. It was created in 1905 by the sculptors Carl Sattler and Irene Georgii-Hildebrand and connected to the Eichstätts water supply system in 1906. Irene Georgii-Hildebrand is the daughter of the sculptor Adolf von Hildebrand , who created the Wittelsbacher fountain in Munich . The fountain was built in memory of the 100th anniversary of Eichstatt under the rule of the Wittelsbach family . Eichstätt came briefly to the Electorate of Bavaria in 1802 and finally to the Kingdom of Bavaria in 1806 , whereby there was again a principality of Eichstätt with the residence town of Eichstätt in 1817–1833 , which was created for the son-in-law of the Bavarian King and Napoleon's stepson, Prince Eugene Beauharnais , Duke of Leuchtenberg, was created. The fountain monument was unveiled on October 22, 1905 by Prince Ludwig Ferdinand of Bavaria .
