occupation

Wizards vs Aliens is a 36-part British television series on the BBC . The first broadcast took place from October 29, 2012 to November 25, 2014 on the television station CBBC .

action

Tom Clarke is a young wizard. One day he meets the aliens Nekross. They feed on magic and want to conquer the earth. With the support of his grandmother, his father, his best friend Benny and a goblin, he repeatedly manages to thwart their evil plans. But the Nekross do not give up and try again and again to conquer power on earth and to rob the wizards of all magic.

background

The series was invented by Russell T Davies and Phil Ford . The authors found it exciting to let aliens and wizards meet. Aliens would never appear in Harry Potter , any more than wizards would appear in Doctor Who . Through this series these beings should meet as opponents and thus magic and science fiction should be connected. The series has a total of three seasons. It aired from 2012 to 2014. In January 2015 it was announced that there would be no new season this year. Wizards vs Aliens was a successor to the successful television series The Sarah Jane Adventures , which had to be ended due to the untimely death of the leading actress Elisabeth Sladen . Some elements from the Sarah Jane Adventures have also been adopted for Wizards vs Aliens . The screenplay for the unfilmed Sarah Jane Adventures episode The Thirteenth Floor was rewritten by Phil Ford into an episode of Wizards vs. Aliens and broadcast under the title of the same name. The main character Benny Sherwood is gay. In the course of the series he has his coming out. This makes Wizards vs Aliens one of the few and first children's series to address homosexuality.

DVD release

A first season DVD was released on December 31, 2012 by Fremantle Home Entertainment. There is both a British DVD (Region 2) and an Australian DVD (Region 4). Two years later, the second season was released on DVD. However, the DVD of the second season has only been released in Australia so far.
