Vladimir Olegovich Ovchinnikov

Wladimir Olegowitsch Owtschinnikow ( Russian Владимир Олегович Овчинников , English transcription Vladimir Ovchinnikov; born August 2, 1970 in Volgograd ) is a former Russian javelin thrower .

As a representative of the Soviet Union , he finished seventh at the 1988 Olympic Games , sixth at the 1990 European Athletics Championships in Split and won silver at the 1991 Universiade .

At the World Athletics Championships in 1993 in Stuttgart and 1995 in Gothenburg as well as at the Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996 and Sydney in 2000 , he was eliminated from the qualification, now starting for Russia.

In 1995 he became the Russian champion. He set his personal best of 88.00 m on May 14th of the same year in Togliatti .
