Vladislav Ivanovich Pustowoit ( Russian Владислав Иванович Пустовойт , Ukrainian Владислав Іванович Пустовойт / Wladyslaw Pustowoit * 15. November 1936 in Berdyansk ) is a Soviet - Ukrainian physicist and university teacher .

Life

Pustowoit holds a doctorate in physical and mathematical sciences and is a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAN) . Since 1995 he has headed the scientific and technical center for special instrument making at RAN. He heads the chair for optoelectronic instruments for scientific research at the Moscow State Technical University "NE Bauman" . Together with JW Guljajew, he is the editor of the specialist journal Radiotechnik und Elektronik .

Pustowoit and JW Guljajew were the first in the world to propose the use of surface acoustic waves (SAW) for signal processing and a piezo-element semiconductor layer structure for this . He also developed tunable acoustic - optical filters for the entire light wave spectrum , which are used in space travel , medical technology , control technology and environmental technology . He proposed the construction of a large Michelson interferometer for the registration of gravitational waves .
