The Woezer See is a lake through which the Schilde river flows in the area of the municipality of Wittendbod in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district in western Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
The lake is located half a kilometer southwest of the Woez district, which gives it its name, in a moorland area. The district of Döbbersen is 250 meters from the west bank. In the north the shield flows into the lake and leaves it again in the south-west. In addition, several trenches feed the water. The Düsterbeck, which emerges from the lake in the east, but flows into the Schilde after a few kilometers, forms another outflow. The water is then discharged towards the North Sea via Schilde, Schaale , Sude and Elbe . The water has a maximum extension of 1342 by 686 meters and a size of 57 hectares. The height of the water level is 35.1 m above sea level. NHN .
In terms of its origins, the polytrophic and shallow lake is a channel lake . It has pronounced silting zones in the form of deep fen , quarry forest and strips of reed beds that almost completely surround it. Only from the northeast is grassland connected, from here the lake used by bathers and anglers is accessible.
Due to heavy silting, the water is very shallow and polymictic with an average depth of 1.1 meters . Due to inputs from agriculture, it has high nutrient concentrations.
The Woezer See and its surroundings are part of the 7,070 hectares of protected landscape "Schaalsee landscape" and part of the Fauna-Flora-Habitat -Schutzgebiets "Schaaletal with tributaries and nearby woods and moors" (EU number DE 2531-304).
