The residential and commercial building Abteiberg 8 is in the Gladbach district of the city of Mönchengladbach in North Rhine-Westphalia . It was built in 1882. The house was entered under no. A 015 on December 10, 1985 in the monuments list of the city of Mönchengladbach .
location
The Abteiberg street is a street that descends from the Alter Markt to the Geroweiher. The building stands opposite the retaining wall that borders the Abbey Mountain in the west, in the still intact area of the old town.
architecture
Three and a half storey brick house on three axes with a flat roof in the still intact remaining area of the old town. Unplastered front side in gothic stone structure . Window openings covered with logs with profiled walls , grouped into groups of three and connected by cornices, crowned by cranked cornices and frieze fields decorated with rosettes.
On the ground floor, original shop fittings across the entire width of the house, low plaster base, square pieces of cast iron , high, smoothly plastered lintel beam, above an ornamented frieze band that communicates with the cornice of the 1st floor. On the upper mezzanine floor tracery ooculi , horizontal closure by a pointed arch frieze and cornice , square corner pinnacles , coinciding with the neighboring house on the right. On the 2nd floor there is an inscription with the year of construction. Renewed wooden windows with muntin division and slug panes , facade painting based on the original brick color , windowing and door of the shop fitting have been changed.
