The Besselstrasse residential group in Bremen , Ostliche Vorstadt district, Fesenfeld district , Besselstrasse 42–91 / Bismarckstrasse , was built in 1869 according to plans by the building contractor Lüder Rutenberg . This group of buildings has been a listed building in Bremen since 1973 .

The Besselstraße leads in a north-south direction from Bismarckstraße over Feldstraße to Humboldtstraße . It was created in 1868 and named after the astronomer, mathematician, geodesist and physicist Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel (1784–1846).

history

The plastered, two- and sometimes three-storey houses were built for a middle class from 1869 in the era of historicism in the style of late classicism . House No. 91 at the corner of Bismarckstrasse was not built until 1893 in the neo-renaissance style based on plans by Fritz Dunkel .
The ensemble includes houses no. 42, 44–89 and 91.
The two- to four-storey houses from no. 3 to 40 are not listed.
Currently (2018) the buildings are used as residential buildings.

The house type Bremer Haus , which occurs frequently in the district , was built in Bremen between the mid-19th century and the 1930s. The basement as a basement , the deep building shape and the side entrance are characteristic.
