Wojciech Roszkowski
Wojciech Roszkowski (born June 20, 1947 in Warsaw ) is a Polish historian , politician and member of the European Parliament from 2004–2009 . He was a member of the Union for a Europe of Nations . Roszkowski was a member of the European Parliament's Committee on Budgets , a substitute member of the Committee on Culture and Education and a member of the delegation for relations with Japan .
Life
Wojciech Roszkowski graduated from Szkoła Główna Planowania i Statystyki in 1971 with a degree in economics and in 1978 he received his doctorate from edenda. From 1980 to 1983 he was a member of the Solidarność trade union . In 1983 he published a book on Polish history under the pseudonym Andrzej Albert over the period 1918–1980 with the title “Latest Polish History”. This book first appeared in the underground in Warsaw, over time in several editions in one and in three volumes. He wrote some publications together with Anna Radziwiłł . So far his books have only been published in Polish or English.
In 1988 he went to the Woodrow Wilson Center in Washington, DC as a university lecturer. 1990–1993 he was Vice Rector of Szkoła Główna Handlowa and from 1994 to 2000 he was director of the Institute for Political Studies at the Polish Academy of Sciences and then until 2002 owner of the Kościuszko- Chair of Polish Studies at the University of Virginia (USA).
He is a member of the Polish Academy Collegium Invisibile , which was founded in 1995, and is one of the signatories of the Prague Declaration . He holds the Chair of International Relations at the Collegium Civitas in Warsaw. Roszkowski is one of Poland's most popular non-fiction writers. In 2016 his 3-volume book “The World of Christ” was published, in which Roszkowski describes the entire history of the world during the lifetime of Jesus. According to his own statements, he worked on this work for more than 50 years. His book “The Smashed Mirror - The Fall of Western Civilization” was one of the most widely read works in Poland in 2019 and topped numerous bestseller lists.
