From 1958 to 1980 Wolf Broda held a professorship for mechanical engineering and control engineering at the Ohm Polytechnic in Nuremberg . He used his professional knowledge on a voluntary basis to promote astronomy, especially in the Nuremberg metropolitan region.

Broda was involved in the Nuremberg Astronomical Working Group (NAA) for many years . His particular commitment was to maintain and modernize the Regiomontanus observatory on the Rechenberg . Since the beginning of the 1990s he promoted their development into a modern public observatory. He also focused on the design of the Regiomontanusbote , the NAA's club magazine. Between 1994 and 2000 he published 27 articles on celestial mechanics that are understandable for laypeople. This series ABC - Astronomical Calculation Cocktail formed the basis for the book of the same name, which was published by Oculum-Verlag in 2007 and thus became known nationwide in professional circles. Hans-Ulrich Keller , former head of the Carl Zeiss Planetarium in Stuttgart, paid tribute to this book with the words: "His work ABC - Astronomical Calculation Cocktail is unique and will for many ... remain a standard work on celestial mechanics in German ".

For his services to astronomy in the Nuremberg area, he was honored in 2008 with the Medal of Merit Bene Merenti De Astronomia Norimbergensi of the Nuremberg Astronomical Society (NAG) .

Wolf Broda is described by his companions as a person interested in politics well into old age, who was particularly distinguished by his love of nature as well as cultural and artistic interests. In addition to his commitment to astronomy, he was also active as the coordinator of the commentary services in the Nuremberg Lorenzkirche . In this context he campaigned for the observance of human rights, the preservation of creation and the preservation of peace. When his mobility decreased in old age, he motivated his companions through emails to take part in surveys and protests on the subject of environmental protection and human rights.
