Wolf Kalipp

Wolf Kalipp (born July 7, 1951 in Dortmund ) is a German music, organ and cultural scientist, instrumental and vocal teacher, conductor and university lecturer.

Life

After graduating from high school at Dortmund's Helmholtz-Gymnasium, Kalipp began studying school music, musicology, classical philology, philosophy and pedagogy at the Musikhochschule and the University of Cologne, among others with Johannes Hömberg and Hermann Schroeder , and Münster, among others with Klaus Wolfgang Niemöller and Rudolf Reuter . He also studied the organ with Eduard Büchsel . In 1983 Kalipp did his doctorate in Münster with Rudolf Reuter on the Westphalian family of organ builders Vorenweg-Kersting. Kalipp then worked as director of municipal music schools in Westphalia, as well as lecturer and editor at Schott Musik Verlag in Mainz. There, as well as with the publishers Bärenreiter and Breitkopf & Härtel, he published Urtext editions and music didactic manuals. Since 1999 he has been a lecturer for music didactics in the music education department at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media.

Kalipp performs as a pianist, organist, oratorio and chamber orchestra conductor and deals with music and cultural studies, in particular Albert Schweitzer research and reception.

Kalipp is married and has three daughters.
