Wolfgang-Michael Bauer

Wolfgang-Michael Bauer (born May 22, 1986 in Baden near Vienna ) is an Austrian composer .

Life and education

Bauer graduated from the HTL Wiener Neustadt in 2005 and then studied audio engineering at the SAE Institute in Vienna. In 2009 he began his composition studies at the Joseph Haydn Conservatory of the Province of Burgenland with Tibor Nemeth , which he graduated in June 2012. From 2012 to 2013 he completed a bachelor’s degree at the University of Music in Bratislava with Vladimir Bokes, and from 2015 to 2017 a master’s degree also at the University of Music in Bratislava with Jevgenij Iršai, from which he graduated with distinction.

Projects

  • Bauer participated in numerous Erasmus projects, including Haydn-The Progressive (Eisenstadt) and Opus Erasmus (France).
  • On May 21, 2013 his work "Wagner Morphose" including a short interview was broadcast on the Ö1 program "Zeit-Ton".
  • “Another morning”: Together with the Swiss visual artist Christian Bolt and the Swiss poet Andrin Schütz, Bauer is part of the interdisciplinary initiative “another morning”, which deals with the subject of the image of man in the 21st century. In the course of the 3rd Klosters Culture Night on August 14, 2015, the project was presented to a larger audience, and the first sketches of all three participants could be seen in Christian Bolt's studio. Realization is planned for 2016, and the works are to be presented in summer 2018.

Teaching activities

Since autumn 2012 Bauer has been teaching at the Joseph Haydn Conservatory of the Province of Burgenland , initially in the subjects of acoustics and computer internship, and since autumn 2017 also in the subjects of composition, composition internship and theory of form.
