Wolfgang Böhm (painter)

Wolfgang Böhm (born November 23, 1946 in Vienna ) is an Austrian painter and graphic artist .

Live and act

From 1962 to 1966, Böhm attended the Higher Graphical Federal Teaching and Research Institute in Vienna and studied from 1966 to 1971 at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna . 1978 to 1983 as well as 1986 and 1993 he stayed in Nelewatta Nelewala in Sri Lanka and in 1994 he completed a study trip to India.

He is a member of the Association of Austrian Women Artists and the MAERZ Artists' Association . The artist lives and works in Bad Großpertholz .

Works

In the first years after the academy, Böhm mainly created landscape drawings, followed by a series of interiors with chairs that had been in motion, whereby the artist succeeded in circumscribing psychological movements through dynamic meshwork of lines. The stays in Sri Lanka shaped his later work. decisive, because on the one hand he dealt with the local landscape and on the other hand included the Eastern religions, especially Zen Buddhism.

  • Promotional awards for fine arts from the Province of Lower Austria (1981) and the City of Vienna (1982)
