Wolfgang Bossinger

Wolfgang Bossinger (born September 4, 1960 in Memmingen ) is a German music therapist, book author, musician, song director and songwriter . He founded the Academy for Singing and Health , as well as "Singing Hospitals" - an international network to promote singing in health facilities. V.

Life

Wolfgang Bossinger studied music therapy at the University of Applied Sciences of the Rehabilitation Foundation in Heidelberg. Since 1989 he has been working as a music therapist at the Christophsbad Clinic , and as a freelance leader of seminars, training courses and speaker.

Wolfgang Bossinger has been a member of the board of Il canto del mondo - international network for the promotion of the everyday culture of singing e. V. and since 2008 on the board of the German Singing Foundation.

In addition to his efforts to make the health-promoting effects and possible uses of singing known through research and publications, Bossinger began to increasingly use so-called “healing group singing ” in the clinical field from 2006 onwards. From this experience at the Christophsbad Clinic, he founded the Canto initiative “Singing Hospitals” together with patients, therapists and scientists in 2009 and then in 2010 the non-profit association Singing Hospitals - international network for the promotion of singing in health facilities. V. This association promotes and researches singing projects at hospitals and therapeutic facilities with patients of various diseases as well as at old people's homes. Bossinger was the first chairman of the association from 2010 to October 2012 and then switched to the role of honorary chairman of the association.

Together with the music teacher and singer Katharina Bossinger (née Neubronner), he founded the Academy for Singing and Health in 2012 in order to focus more on the topic of "Singing in prevention and health promotion".

His work focuses on research into the health-promoting and therapeutic effects of song and voice. In his book "The healing power of singing", published in 2005, he examined the meaning of singing from an evolutionary perspective as well as against the background of current findings from music therapy, neurobiology , musicology and cultural history.

As editor of the book and the DVD film "Vibration and Health", which was published in 2008, he dealt with the importance of vibration processes, artistic therapies, chronobiology , chronomedicine , singing and singing research , brain research and music therapy for the psychosocial health of people.

He produced various CDs with the aim of encouraging singing amateurs, especially patients, to sing along.
