Wolfgang Freiherr Marshal von Bieberstein

Wolfgang Helmuth Hans Freiherr Marschall von Bieberstein (born August 4, 1928 in Freiburg im Breisgau ; † June 10, 2003 in Unteribental in the Black Forest ) was a German university professor .

Life

Wolfgang Marschall von Bieberstein was born the son of Fritz Freiherr Marschall von Bieberstein (1883–1939), a full professor of public law, and his wife Nora, née Kübler, a musician. In 1957 he married Christa von Wendorff and had five children with her. He studied law in Bern, Frankfurt am Main and Freiburg im Breisgau and Chicago . In 1956 he became an assessor and received his doctorate in 1957. He completed his habilitation in 1966 and was then a private lecturer at the University of Freiburg until 1967. He then became a professor at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main . In 1978 he moved to the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn . In 1980 he was visiting professor in Melbourne , in 1988 and 1992 in Seoul and in 1994 at Thammasat University in Bangkok . In 1994 he retired.

He was a legal knight of the Order of St. John, a member of the Society for Comparative Law, the German-American Lawyers Association and the German-Korean Legal Society.

The journalist Christoph von Marschall is one of his sons.
