Wolfgang Götz (born in Augsburg ) is a German conductor and choir director who has lived and worked in Salzburg since 2008 .

life and work

Götz was a choirboy with the Augsburg Cathedral Boys' Choir . He studied choir conducting with Kurt Suttner and conducting with Ulrich Weder and Sergiu Celibidache in Munich. As a conductor, pianist and director of studies he worked a. a. at the city theaters of Passau and Baden , at the Theater Basel , at the Städtische Bühnen Wuppertal , the Opéra de Lille and the Teatro La Fenice in Venice. In 1996 he was Claudio Abbado's assistant at the Salzburg Easter Festival . In 2006 he was engaged for the first time as a director of studies at the Salzburg Festival . In the same year he led the choir in the first Indian opera production of Puccini's Madama Butterfly at the National Center of Performing Arts in Mumbai . Since 2008 he has been leading the Salzburg Festival and Theater Children's Choir , and since 2010 he has been engaged in the same function and as director of studies at the Salzburg State Theater.
