Wolfgang Grave

Wolfgang Grave (also Gravius ; born August 7, 1560 in Saarbrücken ; † September 27, 1608 ) was a German lawyer .

Life

When Wolfgang Grave was born in Saarbrücken in 1560, this city belonged to the territory of the Count of Nassau-Saarbrücken . Grave studied philosophy and law in Marburg , Strasbourg and Heidelberg . After completing his studies, he took care of several businesses in various parts of Germany on behalf of his father, who served as a secret councilor in the service of the Count of Nassau-Saarbrücken. He then went on a trip to France for further training .

After his return in 1584, Grave obtained his legal doctorate in Heidelberg and then worked at the Imperial Court of Justice in Speyer . In 1589 he was appointed public prosecutor in the free imperial city of Nördlingen , where his grandfather had already been a member of the council. In this position, Grave earned a great reputation. In 1608 he died at the age of 48.
