Wolfgang Herber

Wolfgang Wilhelm "Wolli" Herber (born July 19, 1949 in Wiesbaden ; † February 7, 2013 there ) was a German teacher, local politician ( SPD ) and homeland researcher.

Life

Herber graduated from the Gutenberg School in Wiesbaden in 1968 . From 1968 to 1973 he studied psychology, German, sociology, political science and educational science in Mainz and Frankfurt and passed the state examinations for teaching in German and social studies. Since then he has worked as a secondary school and secondary school teacher.

His political work began in the Wiesbaden-Mitte local advisory board , of which he was a member from 1981 to 1985. From 1989 to 1997 he was a city councilor, since 1997 an honorary city councilor. He was also a member of the Auringen SPD local association .

In August 2005 he became head of culture for the city of Wiesbaden for one year. In this function he campaigned for the establishment of the “Friends of the City Archives”, for a round table to clarify the future of the Schlachthof cultural center and for the introduction of the “Caligari Between the Years” program. He was also a member of the theater advisory board of the Hessian State Theater and the board of directors of the German Film Institute . He was a founding member and board member of the German Society and, since 1997, a board member of the Wiesbaden Music and Art School.

As a local researcher, he published essays and articles on local and regional history.
