The iron broom is the fifth music album by the Leipzig rapper Morlockk Dilemma . It was released on May 1, 2010 on the Spoken View label .
The album is considered a mixtape because there are an unusually large number of tracks (37) on the album, each of which is relatively short. Guests ( features ) on the album are: Ruffkidd, Hiob, Goretex, JAW , Absztrakkt , Damion Davis, Retrogott , Acid Rain, Gory Gore, Audio88 & Yassin . There is also a greeting from Kool Savas on the track "Immer Wenn ich rhyme" .
Beats were produced by the following artists, among others: DJ D-fekt, Hulk Hodn , Dexter , Suff Daddy , Mortn Neo, Hieronymuz, Hubert Daviz, Gory Gore, Die Anomali and Morlockk Dilemma himself.
background
The title of the album is an allegory and relates to the predicted effect or intention: with a broom with iron bristles "the rubbish is swept out of the dusty corners". The title can be classified as controversial outside of its meaning: comparisons with the anti-Semitic newspaper Der Eiserne Besen can be drawn. However, the title is not consciously related to it. The rapper expresses himself as follows: “PS: Comparisons with magazines of the same name from the bad times are absurd and outrageous. Shame on you!". He also comments on the title in an interview with Splash magazine. He rejects any reference to the Austrian magazine and refers to the everyday use of the phrase.
style
The style of the album follows the previous Morlockk Dilemmas albums. Melodic, sometimes dark beats underline the rapper's fast, high-pitched speaking voice. If one looks at the texts, however, the listener is presented with a completely different picture compared to the oeuvre: without exception aggressive battle texts on the part of dilemmas. Some parts of the guests on the mixtape are also in the style of the battlerap.

The title Untergrundrap is based on a sample from the first movement of Bach's 3rd Brandenburg Concerto . This version was released by Bach interpreter Wendy Carlos and his album Switched-On Bach , 1969.
There are three “wordcuts” on the album: Torch with “it's all about violence or sex” (Track 13, violence or sex , 0:53), Samy Deluxe with “please let me hear it again” (Track 5, Interlude , 0:10) and Kool Savas with a cut from the track LMS : “What's going on with you, all Emcees…” (Track 12, Let me go , 2:12).
criticism
For Splash magazine "[...] everything is unfortunately not consistently at the highest dilemma level in terms of content, but it is quite capable of climbing the German rap mixtape throne and leaving all other contenders dismembered". The features are also praised. Rap.de praises Morlockk Dilemmas' rap abilities, because it "ensures long-term fun with the CD, because you have to tap into it and not hear everything dead after playing it through twice". However, it is also emphasized that the topics in combination with the fast rap style could quickly lead to annoyance. The album is also rated positively on rappers.in: " The broom sweeps through the country ... I can only say that cleaning up has rarely given me such a pleasure".
The album received mostly good reviews, but received very different levels of attention among journalists. For some hip-hop editors it was one of the best albums in 2010, while others did not mention it in the annual top list.
continuation
In 2015, a sequel was released with the title The Iron Broom II . Features u. a. by Job , Karate Andi , Edgar Wasser , Retrogott , Audio88 & Yassin , Absztrakkt , Sylabil Spill and Warpath.
