Wolfgang König (business IT specialist)

Wolfgang König (* 1951 ) is a German business IT specialist and university lecturer .

König holds the professorship for business administration , in particular business informatics and information management at the Goethe University in Frankfurt . In addition, he is the managing director of the House of Finance affiliated with Goethe University and chairman of the board of the interdisciplinary financial research institute E-Finance Lab .

Career

König completed a degree in business administration (1975) and business education (1977) at the Goethe University in Frankfurt . There he received his doctorate in 1980 ( dissertation topic : hardware-supported parallelization of operational planning systems ) and completed his habilitation in 1985 (habilitation topic : strategic planning of operational information processing ).

From 1985 to 1990 he was professor of business informatics at the WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management in Vallendar near Koblenz, where he served as dean from 1986 to 1988 . In 1991 he accepted a call to Frankfurt and from 2004 to 2006 he also worked as dean of the economics department.

He spent stays abroad at the IBM Research Laboratories as well as at Northwestern University , the University of California and the University of Hawaii . In 2005 he received the IBM Faculty Award for his research on risk reduction in business process outsourcing .

In the meantime, he acted as managing editor of the German science magazine " Wirtschaftsinformatik ".

König is married and lives in the Rhine-Main area.
