Wolfgang Knorr

Detlef Walter Wolfgang Knorr (born May 30, 1911 in Wolkenburg ; † July 4, 1940 in France) was a German physician and racial theorist .

Life

As the son of the doctor Alfred Knorr he grew up in the Erzgebirge and studied at the University of Leipzig Medical and Race Studies , where he in 1936 with a thesis on "The children rich in Leipzig" to Dr. phil. received his doctorate. In the same year he got a position at the German Hygiene Museum in Dresden , where he worked in the genetics and racial studies department and did special research on National Socialist racial science and racial politics . In addition, he held a teaching position for race grooming at the University of Leipzig. In 1939 he was at the University of Rostock with the work "genetic biology Comparative studies on three antisocial extended families" to Dr. med. PhD.

At the age of 21 he joined the NSDAP in 1932 and quickly made a career here. Initially, he was a volunteer NSDAP group speaker and from 1933 as a gau speaker. After a time as a deputy, he was promoted to Gauamtsleiter in the race policy office of the NSDAP in Saxony on February 1, 1936 . In 1939 he became head of the Reich Main Office for “Practical Population Policy”. Among other things, Knorr demanded a "law against the prevalence of subhumanity ", which should make it possible to forcibly sterilize all those who were declared "unfit for community" by the National Socialists.

In 1938 he became an SA standard leader . In early July 1940, at the age of 29, he died as a resident in France of an overdose of morphine, presumably as a result of suicide.
