Wolfgang Martens (lawyer)

Wolfgang Rudolf Karl Martens (born April 24, 1934 in Wandsbek ; † July 22, 1985 in Hamburg ) was a German lawyer and author.

Live and act

Martens studied law at the University of Hamburg . In 1960 he received his doctorate with the dissertation The constitutional content of the military order in the Basic Law under his academic teacher Hans Peter Ipsen at the University of Hamburg. After completing his dissertation, Martens initially worked as an assistant at the University of Hamburg before completing his habilitation in 1968 at the University of Münster with the thesis Public as a Legal Term.

In 1969 Martens was appointed full professor for public law at the Ruhr University in Bochum . At the same time he was appointed judge at the Higher Administrative Court in Münster . In 1973, Wolfgang Martens accepted a call to the University of Hamburg and thus rejoined the Faculty of Law in his hometown.
