Wolfgang Neuser (philosopher)

Wolfgang Neuser (born December 25, 1950 in Siegen ) is a German philosopher and has been a professor of philosophy at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern since 1995 .

Career

Neuser studied physics and philosophy with a focus on theoretical astrophysics and the history of science from the 18th to 20th centuries at the Universities of Tübingen , Munich (LMU) , Heidelberg and Kassel . In 1979 he obtained his diploma in physics in Heidelberg , and in 1986 he received his doctorate in philosophy in Kassel . In 1992 he received his habilitation in philosophy from the University of Kassel .

Since 1995 he has held the chair for philosophy with special emphasis on natural and technical sciences at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern. From 1992 to 2012 he was visiting professor at the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul , Porto Alegre , Brazil , and the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Porto Alegre, Brazil. In 2011 he was recognized by the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul in Porto Alegre, Brazil, for his “contribution to the introduction, consolidation and expansion of scientific, academic and cultural cooperation”.

His research focuses on the natural philosophy of German idealism with special consideration of contemporary scientific references to the natural sciences, epistemology and metaphysics , Renaissance philosophy ( Giordano Bruno ), business ethics and concepts of knowledge of the present.

In 1983, Neuser co-founded the working group on Hegel's natural philosophy (with Dieter Wandschneider , Michael John Petry, Dietrich von Engelhardt) and is editor of the Bibliography of Logic (with Wolfgang Lenski and Michael M. Richter).
