Wolfgang O. Sack

Wolfgang O. Sack (born March 17, 1923 in Leipzig , † June 21, 2005 in Ithaca , New York ) was a German-American veterinary anatomist .

Life

Sack left the GDR in 1951 and emigrated to Canada . He studied veterinary medicine in Guelph ( Ontario ) and then worked as an assistant at the university there. In 1964 he moved to Cornell University to Robert E. Habel . From there he undertook numerous research trips to European veterinary and anatomical institutes. In Edinburgh he began his Ph.D. -Thesis, in Munich he was awarded a Dr. med. vet. PhD . After a guest stay in Nairobi , he finally became a professor at the renowned Cornell University.

Sack was President of the American Association of Veterinary Atomic Scientists (AAVA) and for many years General Secretary and President of the World Association of Veterinary Atomic Scientists (WAVA). Shaped by his personal life, he was an important link between the American and European veterinary atomic scientists. He was co-editor of the Nomina Anatomica Veterinaria and wrote numerous textbooks.
