Wolfgang Pahncke

Wolfgang Pahncke (born November 9, 1921 in Halle (Saale) ; † February 15, 1989 in Rostock ) was a German university professor and sports historian.

Life

Pahncke was the son of Robert Pahncke , who was the head of the Pforta state school . In 1940 he graduated from high school in Halle. From 1941 he did military service and was in Soviet captivity until 1948. After his return he was initially a forest worker and worker at the Reichsbahn. From autumn 1950 to 1953 he studied pedagogy (physical education) in Rostock.

From 1953 Wolfgang Pahncke worked as a university sports teacher at the University of Rostock . From 1959 to 1969 he was a lecturer in the history of physical culture (responsible for perception) and from 1969 to 1976 he was a university lecturer in the theory and history of socialist physical culture.

He published books on Rostock sports history and gymnastics history.
