Wolfgang R. Heizmann

Wolfgang R. Heizmann (born May 24, 1949 in Besigheim ) is a German medical microbiologist .

Life

After studying medicine in Tübingen from 1974 to 1981, he worked as an assistant doctor at the Hygiene Institute of the University of Tübingen until 1985 . In 1988 he completed his habilitation in the field of medical microbiology and was recognized as a specialist in medical microbiology and infection epidemiology in 1989 . From 1985 to 1990 he was employed as a senior physician at the Tübingen Clinic and from 1991 to 1996 he was a freelance specialist in Stuttgart . In 1994 he was appointed adjunct professor at the University of Tübingen. From 1997 to 2001 he was a resident specialist in Göttingen and head of the microbiology department in a large laboratory. Since 2001 he has headed the "Center for Microbiology and Infectiology" in Berlin .

Heizmann is a co-discoverer of Corynebacterium lipophiloflavum
