Wolfgang Riechmann (born May 19, 1947 in Düsseldorf ; † August 24, 1978 there ) was a German electronics musician .

Life

Wolfgang Riechmann's musical career began in May 1967 with his first public appearances in North Rhine-Westphalia, when he was responsible for vocals, guitar and keyboard in his own band. This was followed by collaboration with the former Kraftwerk members Michael Rother and Wolfgang Flür in the groups Spirits of Sound and Phön-x (1972).

In 1976 and 1977, Riechmann was responsible for vocals, synthesizers and guitar in the Streetmark group . Result was u. a. Eileen , produced by Conny Plank in 1976 , after his death Sky Records released the same record as "Wolfgang Riechmann und Streetmark". This "business with death" was controversial in the German scene.

In addition to his work as a social worker, Wolfgang Riechmann worked on a career as a solo artist from 1977. The only release from November 1977 to January 1978 was the album Wunderbar . Supported by Hans Schweiß (later with Flaming Bess ) on the drums, Riechmann played all the instruments himself, u. a. ARP - synthesizer , guitar and electric violin .

However , Riechmann was no longer allowed to witness the publication of Wunderbar - while walking in Düsseldorf's old town on August 20, 1978, he was stabbed by two drunks for no reason and died four days later of internal bleeding due to poor medical treatment .
