Wolfgang Schmierer

Wolfgang Schmierer (born September 7, 1938 in Berlin ; † October 7, 1997 ) was a German archivist and historian .

After studying history, Schmierer was awarded a Dr. phil. been awarded a doctorate . Later he became the chief archive director of the main state archive in Stuttgart . Here he mainly worked on the social history of Württemberg and Baden-Württemberg. He published numerous papers on this subject. From 1979 to 1997, the year he died, Schmierer was editor in charge of the publication of the Ludwigsburg history sheets.

Schmierer was a member of the Tübingen student union Lichtenstein.
