Wolfgang Schmitz (born October 13, 1948 in Paderborn ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia from 2000 to 2010 .

education and profession

Schmitz completed his 1967 high school and then studied from 1969 to 1974 law at the Westphalian Wilhelms University . In 1974 he passed his first state examination. In 1977 the 2nd state examination followed. In 1984 Schmitz was approved as a notary .

Schmitz is married and has three children.

politics

Schmitz has been a member of the CDU since 1993 and has been an assessor on the board of the CDU district association in Paderborn since 1994. From 1999 to 2003 he was chairman of the CDU local association in Paderborn, and from 2003 to 2006 he was chairman of the CDU city association in Paderborn. In 2006 he was replaced as chairman of the Paderborn city association by Daniel Sieveke . Schmitz has been a member of the Paderborn District Council since 1994 and has been the 1st Deputy District Administrator in the Paderborn District since 1999 .

Since June 2, 2000 Schmitz was a member of the state parliament of the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament for the constituency of Paderborn II . In the state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2005 , he was able to defend his mandate with over 55 percent of the vote. Schmitz did not run again as a direct candidate for the state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2010 . Daniel Sieveke (CDU) was elected as his successor and constituency representative.
